MINUTES OF THE MAY MEETING:

President, Joe Hrason, has scheduled our summer picnic on Sunday, August 3, 2025, at Grubbs Pavilion, Hampton Community Center located on McCully Road.

Dot Easter, Vice President, shared the full lineup of the free Allegheny County 2025 summer concert series at Hartwood Acres Park Amphitheater in Hampton. Two events were picked: June 1st River City Brass Band and July 6 Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. Discussed also was the Allegheny River Trail Park free Summer Concert Series now in its fifth season. Concerts take place on the second Friday of each month from June to September. The show begins at 7pm. The concerts are family friendly and go on rain or shine! Park is located in Aspinwall, River Avenue.

Director of Activities, Mary Ann Sarver, reported that 27 are going on the Nova Scotia and Canada’s Maritime trip.

Judy Neyer, WPSC (Western PA Ski Council) mentioned looking at the Western PA ski website for trips. Sun Peaks, British Columbia, Canada is going February 28,2026 to March 7, 2026. It’s an IKON pass resort.

Members conversed on The Wall That Heals which is a three~ quarter replica of the Vietnam Memorial in Washington, D.C. which will be at the Anderson Field, Shaler Area High School over the Memorial Day weekend. Since 1996, The Wall That Heals has been in more than 800 communities in 49 states and three countries.

Coleen Geyser’s sister, Kathleen Trew Swazuk, will be remembered at the Shaler North Hills Library, on May 27th. Kathleen was a nurse in the93rd Evacuation Hospital in Vietnam during 1969~1970 seeing and experiencing the horrors of war. She wrote apoem book titled Wharton Heart. Kathleen died from herbicides, Agent Orange. Ski members will join Coleen Geyer to remember her sister.

Patty Adams, Membership, stated that it’s not renewal time yet.

Treasurer, Ron Sarver, reported balance last statement $1,545.17.
