Greetings!
I hope everyone has been enjoying their Spring, and you are ready for the upcoming Summer!
Anyway, welcome to your 2027 Ski Trips offered through the Western Pennsylvania Ski Council.
EAST: Whiteface Mountain, NY. January 24-29, 2027
WEST: Copper Mountain, CO. February 27 – March 6, 2027
Following some delays in gathering pricing and finalizing details, we are now able to promote these trips! The East Trip has been board approved and is ready to take reservations. The West Trip is currently being finalized and is ready to be sent through the approval process. Be on the lookout for that.
I want to introduce you to and welcome Roberta (Bobbi) McCollough as our NEW Trip Chair! She was recommended and got accepted to take over for Mike Dziubkowski, who served in the role for 17+ years! We thank him for his service and commitment, as he will now serve as a consultant so we can learn from his several years of trip planning. Roberta is an aggressive skier who has several years’ experience in organizing trips for Westmoreland Ski Club. She passionately looks forward to overseeing and working with myself on future adventures and trips. This partnership will introduce us to new horizons as we look beyond ski trips and seek to organize other activities, particularly those in the non-winter months! With that being stated, we are BOTH contacts for the 2027 Copper Trip organized through Sports America Tours.
WHITEFACE will once again be organized through Banchi Outdoor Adventures! This mountain boasts the East’s Greatest Vertical and was home to two Olympic Winter Games. It offers something for every level of skier! Lake Placid is rated as one of the best mountain villages with numerous options for shopping, dining, and bars. Lodging is at the HIGH PEAKS RESORTS at the top of the village, a pet-friendly hotel offering an in-house restaurant, mini-market, mini-fridge, coffee maker, wifi, 2 pools, and 2 hot tubs. Queen rooms are standard booking. Due to room limitations, I need couples to choose King Beds. A mountain shuttle runs on a schedule to take guests between the hotel and mountain.
The transportation on this trip is booked with McCarter Coach & Tours out of Beaver Falls, Pa. I asked for the driver from this years’ Killington Trip, as he was instrumental on making that journey actually happen. We will utilize a 54-passenger motor coach with a MINIMUM of 34 filled seats. Due to luggage and gear limitations, we cannot exceed 40 seats. I plan to utilize the bus daily, once in the morning, and once after slopes close to take participants to and from the mountain. Early quitters will need to hang at mountain lodges or catch the mountain shuttle back to hotel. Coffee, donuts, water, and snacks will be available during arrival transport. The 3 Pickup locations will be the same as previous trips: Ben Avon, Meadville, and Erie. Those that opt to drive must be able to meet me on arrival date after the bus checks in so you can get your RFID Lift Pass.
This trip package is on par with other councils and clubs. Please carry a valid photo-ID for admission into NY State venues. All rooms need a credit card on file upon check-in. Please research travel insurance to protect yourself in the event you need to cancel or even look into a medical plan. It’s better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it!
Please look over all the information, share it, and sign up ASAP! Let’s get 40+ participants again! As always, all pertinent details are on the attached document. I have received several inquiries about the trip, so I hope that equates to interest on this trip package! I have set up a Facebook event on the WPSC Site for this trip so it can readily be shared. Additional trip details will be shared as reservations are received. Note that the Whiteface Trip Information may not be on the Council website as of this email but should be soon. Club reps on this email may have also gotten the trip info recently from Marlene.
Thank you for your time. Enjoy this weekend and the upcoming summer months. Stay healthy, safe, and especially active. You will certainly need it on THIS mountain! I look forward to seeing everyone soon. Feel free to reply with questions or concerns. SIGN UP SOON!
